CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW RED ALERT FFA WORLD CHAMPION 2021

ORA-Jacob was the last man standing, outlasting 17 other players in the Free For All tournament of Saturday 27th March 2021.

The tournament was not without drama as, for example, Bayrock was not happy with the positions in his semi final game. Maty unfortunately lost due to disconnection in his round 1 game as well. However there were some real highlights in a couple of games. Not least the titanic struggle between 3 of the pre tournament favourites in Blitz, Rushy and Jacob in game 1 which was a 3 pronged base trade and went down to the wire.

There were some nice games on Hatuken which saw Bayrock conquering Madman, Tankmatch and FrostyCap. However, the game of the tournament must surely be the huge shock in Round 1 as RandyMarsh literally came back from the dead in his King of the Hill game to claim victory. He had been wiped out early on by cousinad but slowly built tanks with NO POWER while he let Ad and Wasibi duel then bided his time and picked up the scraps with 3 healthy war tanks when the other 2 players were dead. He had literally been squashed by Ad within 3 minutes but was somehow able to win - that is what FFAs are all about!

The tournament was fast and furious and took 56 minutes to complete! At the end it received a fitting finale as Jacob defeated his old nemesis  Lordy on the Mining Operation map to seal victory.

You can watch the final here courtesy of N8Diaz:

Jacob therefore won the right to a Yuzgen Tshirt as his trophy. However we agreed that he would prefer the prize of owning the Remastered Collection game on steam and so he received a copy of the new game as his prize. Maybe we will see him replacing Dynamic as the top Remastered player going forward!?

Thanks to all who participated and a huge congratulations to Jacob once more on a unique victory which shall echo through time.

The Yuzgen tshirt proved very popular and if you would like to purchase one they are available here:

Some gone but not forgotten pros of the CnCNet 4 era (circa 2009-2014)! RARE VIDEO ARCHIVES! Part 1

Welcome to today's history corner story-time with Uncle Crushy.

Most modern players on CnCNet are only familiar with the lobby we have today which was designed by FunkyFr3sh, Iran and others. The modern lobby is vastly superior to what we had before and features game room names, friends list etc. The old lobby was very basic, here is a reminder of what it looked like:

Regardless, the old lobby had some very nostalgic times. There were many well documented players playing in those days (late 2000s to 2013) such as Ehy, Robskate and NastyNate. There wasn't really much of a clan element and I would say in general the old lobby had a less toxic atmosphere. People just played games - there were very few players playing in those days and so everyone kind of knew everyone.

Some players who modern pros may not heard of included:
  • DizzyMan - An American best known for being a strong tanker and good builder on maps like P4 and HJK6, he was pretty strong player even by today's standards. I believe he retired from the game around 2014. He was a member of MAN clan. There are several videos of his play on YouTube for example:

  • Cousinsmash - He was a very strong tanker who was capable of beating anyone in a  1v1 and performed very well in tournaments. He was active in the MPlayer days in early 2000s (forget his old username) and returned to CnCNet, playing from around 2012-2015. He was very influential in my own personal development to becoming "pro" as I sparred with him lots and lots of games on several maps playing 1v1 (mostly P4 and Path Beyond). Playing against smash was how I learned shifting and Q while I was a nubenator. He is best known for winning a strong Union Break 2v2 tournament in 2014 where he partnered Ehy to defeat some very strong teams such as At0m1 & Turret, Nate & Yuzgen:

  • NaughtyLove - This guy was really talented. He didn't play for long at all maybe 1-2 years around 2012-2013. He was 2nd ranked place on the very old IGL Red Alert ladder around 2013, behind Ehy. Naughty (aka Matt) was a really nice and helpful guy who was a pleasure to ask questions of when I was starting out. I believe he encountered some real life problems which is why his Red Alert career was short but very successful. He was particularly skilled in Q Master and this first person video shows this:

I don't want to flood the page with more videos so I picked these 3 players as the stand outs. If you ever see some random new player come along and feel like their play is very strong, it could be one of these guys hiding! Some other notable names include Danco-Cro (A croatian co-op map fan who had a very distinctive rocketmen defensive build on Ribbon Isle which stumped many a tanker!), Ifuc (A grenadier wizard who was very strong on 4c Niklas and P4 maps) and many many more players. I'll probably do another article with some more videos on this era of CnCNet with some more rare video footage in future! This was a great and happy era of Red Alert history, even if it wasn't the most busy in terms of player footfall.

Stay tuned for more Red Alert History Corner with Uncle Crushy! Thanks for reading and don't forget to follow!

Some recent March 2021 Tournament results

Congratulations to ORA (Hank and Jacob) for defeating TB (Lordy  & Kickn) in official challenge match earlier this month. The ORA team won the match 5-4, video here:

Well done to [WP]Entidad and Lordy who won the [WP] clan 1 year anniversary tournament. WP members teamed up with a non WP member to create a balanced tournament which seems to have run smoothly. Full results here:

https://redalert1og.challonge.com/es/wijlfnt7

Also well done to Faust and Kipp for winning Liquid 2v2 Tournament 20th March 2021. Victory for [A] clan once again! Furthermore, another great tournament performance from my student Bart who reached the final and narrowly missed out in a 2-1 defeat in the final with his partner H3zb. My coaching programme seems to be really paying off and Bart's play and results have really upped their game in the last couple months which I am delighted to see. If you too would like some CrushyBoo secret pro training coaching then message me privately.

Red Alert Head to Head series, EPISODE 4: Bart vs Oldpr0

Today's instalment features a long overdue clash of the titans. The man otherwise known as FourLetterWord [4LW], Mr Bartzilla and the self-proclaimed top 5 builder of all time, [420] GodOldPr0.

The 5 categories which will be judged out of 10: Tanking (Shift, Q/GQ,Stacking,Positioning, Rushing), Building (Teslas,Base Crawl, Turrets, Chrono etc), Infantry (scouting, guarding, engineers, grenadiers, thieves), Teamwork, Map knowledge. Each of the 5 categories will receive a score out of 10 and we will get to a total at the end.

Bart

Country: USA

Best known for: Being a total freak troll weirdo, but a likeable one at that

Tanking 7.75

Building 7

Infantry 9

Teamwork 7

Map knowledge 8.75

The sama is famous in Red Alert for his magic hat box of tricks tactics. Games with this opponent are completely different to any other player on CnCNet. Concrete walls, APCs, Rocketmen, Dogs, Sandbags, Transporters, MCV driving are all other common features of games with the 4LW. In general his tanking is generally slightly above average so 7.75 is fair. He has pretty solid Q and an OK rush, however his production is very poor and he is pretty weak in large tank battles. His building is better than people might expect and he can be quite smart with turrets and flame towers for example and he is semi-ok when he plays serious on maps like T-dawg so on the whole 7/10 is fair for this category. His infantry is obviously the strongest part of his game. He is extremely skilled in infantry sneak attacks and his rocketmen use and apc tricks are very good. He is far above average in this category and there's not many players better in Red Alert in all honesty in the infantry department. Likewise, he has a very good map knowledge and has played and understands most of the common maps on Red Alert. He is most likely a top 10 level player on small standard maps but he is obviously quite out of his depth when it comes to huge gem maps. His teamwork is a mixture - when he plays serious he can be a pretty strong partner (as proven by us defeating BAT team in clan tournament) - however, if he is in troll bart mode he is the last player on CnCNet you want on your team - you would rather have Balky as your partner if Bart is in troll mode. A mixed bag - I've given him 7 for teamwork basing his overall average serious and troll performances.

Oldpr0

Country: Canada

Best known for: flaming teammates and having an imaginary poker pro career.

Tanking 7.75

Building 9

Infantry 7.75

Teamwork 6.25

Map knowledge 6.75

OldPr0 was officially voted the Rank 1 most delusional player on CnCNet, however he is also the rank 2 most underrated player. His tanking has actually gotten better recently and his production is strong. He still can't shift or use bookmarks properly but at least he has learned to spam the tank button and can Q/GQ so on the whole I think his tanking level is pretty similar to Bart's. For a man who claims he is a top 5 builder of all time, I think he a tad over-exaggerates. No one can deny that he is very strong in a 10 CY game as soviets, however his allies game lacks depth and there are still some stronger. He is definitely well above average in this department and it is easily the strongest part of his game. I think a 9/10 score for building is pretty accurate. His infantry use is a mixture - on maps like pico and P4 he is pretty good with grenadiers and solid with engineers, however he is in general quite poor with rifle infantry. He often lets himself get scouted by enemy infantry and his positioning can be mediocre at times. Overall I think his 7.75 score is fair. His teamwork is awful. It's a running joke in Red Alert that he literally lets partner play 1v2 for 10 minutes before entering the game. I honestly feel like 6.25 is maybe slightly generous, however I've not ranked him  lower as it's true he can sometimes do his famous "steamroll" every once in a while (maybe 5% of games). On the whole he needs to look in the mirror and realise that his team-play is generally atrocious. Worst of all, he is famous for always blaming his team and criticising after every single loss. There is never a game that goes by which he doesn't have an excuse for. His map knowledge is really not much better and very average. He only really wants to play P4 or HJK/V3 type maps. If this was done a couple of months ago I would have given him a 5.5 for map knowledge but in fairness to him he has made an effort to start playing ore maps and other maps he isn't comfortable with so I've reflected that in giving him a very fair score of 6.75/10. Hopefully in time he will improve this map knowledge area of his game and his overall play will improve as a result.

Total average scores:           Bart 7.9/10

                                            Oldpr0 7.5/10

Congratulations to bart on being an overall stronger player in March 2021! My opinion only of course!

Red Alert Head to Head Series, EPISODE 3: Faust vs Rushy vs Tanja (WHO IS THE BEST PLAYER IN [A] CLAN?)

Part 3 of this blog where we compare strong pro players and decide who is the better player as of March 2021. Today I've chosen the 3 best players of [A] clan to compare. At the end I'll give my opinion on who I think is the best player in [A] clan right now. My opinion only based on playing with these guys a lot - they are all strong players.

T[A]nja

Country: Switzerland

Best known for: Production

Tanking: 8.75

Building: 9.25

Infantry: 9

Teamwork: 8.25

Map Knowledge: 8

Tanja is a very strong all round player who excels on large money maps such as V7 and P4 Rashowdown. I'd say on the whole his building is a bit stronger than his tanking and he is definitely one of the top 5-10 builders on Red Alert. His infantry use is in general very strong, particularly grenadier rushing so he deserves a 9/10. Teamwork is on the whole pretty solid, but sometimes he can have bad games such as letting himself get rushed or going Migs too early so I'd say on balance his game awareness is perhaps his only real weakness. He tries his hand on all maps 1v1 but I'd say this is also a weak area for him as he tends to only really like sticking to large money maps. He has played standards in the past, to limited success.

[A]RushyBoo

Country: Canada

Best known for: Using 100 different hider names

Tanking: 8.75

Building: 9.5

Infantry 9.5

Teamwork 9.75

Map Knowledge  7.75

RushyBoo (aka Herm) is one of the best players on Red Alert. Period. He has the best record in tournaments of anyone in 2020 and he has also won the 1v1 ladder one month. He is certainly one of the top 3 builders in Red Alert as of March 2021 and he is probably the best grenadier user in the game. He also has exceptional defensive skills and it is basically impossible to rush him on a map like V3 or Rasta. On Rasta he will always take the game to you first with his grenadiers so you don't even get a chance to rush. His teamwork is probably the best in the game as highlighted by his tournament results. I would suggest that he possibly has the best percentage of game wins in team game tournaments of any player (the highlight was me and him defeating beasty and kobra 5-0 in a crumpet tournament). Map knowledge on the whole pretty solid but this is definitely his only real weakness as he doesn't really play maps like Arena, path beyond etc.

F[A]ust

Country: Germany

Best known for: playing part time and still beating everyone

Tanking: 9.75

Building: 8.25

Infantry: 8.75

Teamwork: 9.5

Map Knowledge: 9

Faust is an extremely strong tanker. Definitely one of the best tankers in the game and is always overlooked when it comes to the "who is the best tanker?" conversation. He most often plays other games online but when he comes to Red Alert he always performs to the highest level. Winning multiple tournaments and usually reaching the final at minimum. I have seen him build and he is solid but it is not comparable to his Q tanking skill. His infantry use is also excellent with great scouting and positioning. His teamwork is great in tournaments as highlighted by his results. Map knowledge very strong as proven on the ladder, he is just as capable as beating RAM players on HJK6 as he is of beating robskate on Path. His rush defence has also improved massively recently and he is surely 1 of the best players on CnCNet.

Final average scores:  Tanja 8.65/10

                                         Rushy 9.05/10

                                          Faust 9.05/10

Wow so close. All 3 players are very strong. I think it is probably fair on balance that Tanja is 3rd place as he isn't as strong in certain game scenarios such as 1v1 as the other 2. Rushy and Faust tied on the same score!!! Rushy is obviously the better builder and Faust the better tanker. It is really difficult to split them, you definitely want Faust on a path beyond, but you want rushy on V3. I suppose if I had to stick my neck out, there is one secret ingredient that Rushy has of an advantage over Faust - experience! So just by virtue of his decades long experience I would probably very very narrowly give the nod to Rushy as being the best in [A] clan as of March 2021, however it is extremely close as Faust (and Tanja) are extremely strong players. Faust is on a trajectory to become the best player in the game at the moment so it probably won't be too long until he surpasses the legend.

Thanks for reading, stay tuned for more.

Red Alert Head to Head Series, EPISODE 2: Grave'Diga vs Muad'Dib

Part 2 of this Blog of Boo exclusive series where I compare to similar pro players and argue who is the better player of the 2. Part 1 featured Leigh vs Kobra https://crushravids.blogspot.com/2021/03/red-alert-head-to-head-series-episode-1.html

Red corner: Muad'Dib

Country: Romania

Best known for: rage-quitting and premature resigning, sometimes in won games :))))))).

Tanking: 8.5/10

Building 9.25/10

Infantry: 8.25/10

Teamwork: 8/10

Map Knowledge: 7/10

Muad has become a very respectable tanker in recent years - perhaps not top top level, but he is certainly strong in this department so I think an 8.5/10 score is fair. However, Muad is best known for being an extremely strong soviet 10-cy player. He is one of the very best tesla crawlers and the south tesla crawl on P4 is often referred to as the "muad crawl". Context example: "I'll go back and muad south crawl". This is his trademark play. He is arguably a top 5 level builder on CnCNet so his 9.25 score is very realistic. His general use of infantry is very good - he knows to make lots of rifle infantry and defends with them well - perhaps he isn't a magician with engineers and thieves like some other players, but he is definitely a solid player in the infantry department. His teamwork would be higher if this was just a P4-exclusive list. He is very good at defending his partner from back. However he lets himself down as he very often rage-quits won games. There have countless games Muadib has let his stress levels get to him and left a winning game - not recognising that his partner has wiped out the enemy base. His game awareness could definitely be much better. As for map knowledge - very basic. In fairness to him he has started branching out into playing ore and gem maps so credit where it's due - he used to play P4 and Ribbon exclusively. He still has a long way to go however, as for example you will never ever see him playing A Path Beyond 1v1 or a Keep off the Grass game - 7/10 is fair for this.

Blue corner: Grave'Diga

Country: New Zealand

Best known for: Being a new dad

Tanking: 9/10

Building: 8.75/10

Infantry: 8.5/10

Teamwork: 8/10

Map knowledge: 8.5/10

Diga is a very strong player in all aspects of the game. He can tank well (very good on platinum medal) and I would say on the whole he is slightly better than Muad in this department (though Muad is very good). Building wise Diga is very strong, not quite top top tier but he is strong and solid - 8.75/10 is fair. His infantry use is well above average and he is very potent with grenadiers in particular, I'd also say his score is fair here. His teamwork isn't quite top level as he sometimes isn't in synergy with what his partner is doing - this isn't a criticism, he's still very good but he doesn't have the same team awarness as some other players. Map knowledge well above average as he proved by winning a 1v1 tournament on a range of maps. Definitely well above average and experience on standards, customs and most maps.

Final average totals

Muad 8.2/10

Diga 8.55/10

Another very close match with 2 strong players. I think Diga has the slight edge overall as reflected in these scores. I think he is a more diverse player with more threats and more 1v1 or standard map ability, for example. This is just my opinion as of March 2021. I hope you enjoyed reading!

I welcome suggestions for the next instalment of this series! Stay tuned and don't forget to follow!

Red Alert Head to Head Series, EPISODE 1: K0bra1 vs Leigh

This is the first part of a brand new series exclusive to the Red Alert Blog of Boo. In it I will be comparing 2 closely matched players and doing a "Top Trumps" style evaluation of their play in order to decide who is the better player right now, as of March 2021. No sitting on the fence. I'll say it like it is and give my absolute honest opinion. Hopefully this series will lead to some much needed Bo9s in the community!!!! If any of the players dispute what I say then they can prove me wrong by having a Bo9. So without further Ado let's make a start in comparing these 2 titans.

Red Corner: K0bra

Country: England

Clan: A

Best Known as: 1 dimensional tanker

Tanking: 8.75/10

Building: 7/10

Infantry: 7.5/10

Teamwork: 8.75/10

Map Knoweldge: 8/10

Notes. Very solid tanker who will spam tanks and is a hard match in a tank battle for anyone. Definitely struggles if he has to transition to tesla or turret spam however. Infantry is pretty solid I have not seen him lose any very fast games, but similarly I have never seen him do anything special with engineers, grenadiers or thieves - he just plays a,b,c solid rifles so I think a score of 7.5/10 is fair. Teamwork not quite a 9 but he does play very well in tournaments so give him his due. I think this is also a fair score. Map knowledge is a good 8/10, there's some maps I've never seen him play so I think he deserves a score of 8/10 for having a good all around grasp of most standards and all of the classic 2v2 maps we play.

Blue corner: Leigh

Country: Scotland

Clan: cousin

Best known for: coaching cousinad to be pro, also living in Crush & Blitz's shadow.

Tanking: 8.75/10

Building: 8/10

Infantry: 8.25/10

Teamwork: 8.75/10

Map Knowledge: 8/10

Tanking  is very solid like K0bra, I literally couldn't split them. I think they are legitimately 50-50 with very even games so I gave them the exact same score of 8.75/10. Leigh is not known for his 10 cy game and oldpr0 will tell you he is a total nubenator in a P4 long game situation for example. However, it is true that he is pretty capable with turret use on maps such as T-dawg so I definitely think he has an edge on Kobra in this department so I rated him higher. Leigh's infantry use is also pretty solid and he has been known to use sneaky grenadier attacks on standard maps, and has impressed on occasion with last minute engineers. His infantry use is definitely more adventurous and better than Kobra's. Teamwork Leigh has also performed very admirably in tournaments - sometimes winning several tournaments in succession. However he has also had some very bad tournaments as Muad Dib (aka everyone's favourite Mad Dog) will tell you! I think on balance their tournament record and teamwork is very finely poised. Finally, the map knowledge of Leigh is very good when it comes to maps like Arena and general 2v2 maps, however I think there is still room for improvement as you will never see him jump in a 2v2 P4 or a goldrush/rasta game so I think on balance 8/10 is fair.

Final average totals - K0bra 8/10

                                - Leigh 8.35/10

                                 Leigh wins the match!

Overall, a very very close match. Hard to call with 2 closely matched players. I think on balance Leigh is the slightly stronger player with more "strings to his bow" so to speak. I think these 2 players are extremely closely matched.

I hope you enjoyed the first part of this series! Stay tuned for more! Please let me know if you would like to volunteer to be compared to someone, maybe your biggest rival? Go on, be brave!

The Rise and Fall of TA Clan

TA clan was formed 7.5 years ago on CnCNet. The original idea came from an old player called ORA-Myth (real name Eric). Myth had returned to Red Alert after a 10+ year absence and played for a couple of weeks on the then-new CnCNet 5 lobby. Myth had only been back playing for a couple of weeks when he approached At0m1 about forming a tanker clan, as he noticed that most players were just building on P4 in random 2v2 P4 games (such players as Col0, Danco-Cro, ANT etc). There were very few decent players at that time and most of them were just builders on P4. Myth wanted tankers to have some sort of elite status and so thought a new clan was a good idea.

CnCNet bot shows us the exact time when TA clan was formed, as Myth left shortly after TA clan was formed. TA clan was formed a couple of weeks within Myth's return. At0m1 liked this idea as perhaps the best tanker active at that time. He knew I was a young and up and coming player who had learned to Q, so he approached me about joining this newly formed clan. Therefore I was the 3rd official member. We agreed on a name between us and  At0m1 decided that "Tankers Alliance" was an appropriate name. Hence that is how the name TA was chosen.

*Note* Over many years, people have speculated that the real meaning behind TA was "Team Atomi" as he had been spotted joking about this on multiple occasions*

Myth left very abruptly after the clan was formed as he decided he just didn't have the passion or time for Red Alert as he had done when he was a teenager playing on MPlayer. As a result, At0m1 and myself were left as the only 2 TA members so recruitment began.

The following players were recruited to make up the new clan: [Turret-TA], [Jayman-TA], [Dak-TA], [Kody-TA]. At some point some other players such as [Funky-TA] joined as well.

The clan enjoyed some great success in its first few years and grew to be one of the powerhouses on Red Alert. I was definitely the most active player then as [Crush-TA]. Some very nice matches and games were played, here's a rare nice victory for At0m1 and Turret of TA vs Cousinehy and Cousinsmash in their nice series from a Union Break tournament:

The TA clan was actually amazing for the competitive scene on Red Alert. I think a number of other clans were inspired to form as a result of the newly formed rivalry with TA. I would say TA was a big influence over the formation of such clans as X and C. However, TB was certainly inspired to form because of TA. Hezb was a new up and coming player who started around the same time as me and had an opposite play-style (he liked to build and I liked to tank). This is how the TB (Tesla Builders) clan were formed. Hezb and his cuzzies formed TB a few weeks after TA was formed in order to create a "Builders vs Tankers" mantra on Red Alert. Cousin clan also began a massive resurgence during this time, as Ehy and Smash proudly displayed their Cousin tags in lobby, and CousinTank (who now uses the name RustyNoob on CnCNet5) and Sucky returned to Red Alert. So overall I definitely think it is fair to say that TA was great for the game and was an important part of Red Alert history as it ensured that there was a competitive scene during a 5 year period in which the player pool was very small and limited.

There seemed to be many highs and lows in the clan's history so far. The boom years once Funky etc joined then hit a dark spot as most members such as Turret (joined the army) and Dak left Red Alert for various reasons. At some point I decided to leave around 5 years ago and would later join my colleagues in ORA:

At some point, some extremely strong new young players would join TA. These included Ford and Mclovin, 2 of the best players in the game, and Santi. Other players such as Kobra had a very brief stint in the TA clan. At some point around 2018-2019 TA was undoubtedly the absolute strongest clan on CnCNet. At0m1 was back playing QMaster with [Lordy-TA] in private rooms as well. TA had reached the pinnacle of the game and were certainly the strongest overall clan for at least a couple of years. It had come such a long way since Myth's proposition to At0m1 in 2013.

However, the old saying "all good things come to an end" seems to be potent at this present juncture. Ford has retired from the game as announced on his blog, check out his statement: https://c9andrewford.blogspot.com/2021/02/have-i-retired.html and McLovin became afflicted with depression and decided to step back from the game as well. At0m1 has also not been spotted in the lobby in a long time.

The lowest point in the clan's history happened in the recent Clan Tournament won by ORA March 2021 Clan Tournament Report

[Lordy-TA] was now the only real active TA player left on CnCNet. Desperate for a partner to play with in the event, Lordy called on old returning [Jayman-TA] to join him. Jayman had only appeared on CnCNet after an absence of several years so was clearly very rusty and not himself. The result was that TA performed horrificly in the group stage, and WP and BAT clan destroyed them. Lordy felt insecure and was humiliated by this result and felt like he had let his mentor At0m1 down so attempted to boot Jayman out of TA and replace him with another partner. The result was that TB-Kickn (a once huge rival of TA), played under Jayman's name, effectively cheating the competition.

[Lordy apologises for getting Kickn to play using Jayman's name]

After being disqualified from the event by tournament host N8Diaz, some major internal issues in TA were needing addressed.

Ultimately [Jayman-TA] would go to absent leader At0m1 and report the chaos. Jayman would make a statement saying that Lordy was the worst player he had ever seen in TA and could not believe the disrespect he received during the tournament.

<[Jayman-TA]> i cant believe this noob is in TA hes shit and he plays all day. iv not played in 3 years guys. he just does noob rush every game

It was ultimately decided that Jayman as an 8 year member and stronger player was higher up in the TA hierarchy than Lordy and so it seems the decision was made to kick Lordy out of the clan - though admittedly I don't know much about the internal workings of this decision. The result was as  follows:

[Lordy leaves TA clan and joins their arch-rivals]

This was a symbolic moment for the TA Clan. As Jayman had announced that he was again taking another hiatus from the game. Lordy had been the only active TA member on CnCNet for months, so his decision to move to another clan sounds the death knell for TA. There are now no active TA members left on CnCNet for the first time in the clan's illustrious history.

This begs the question: Is this the end of TA?

Will At0m1 zippo his way onto CnCNet and recruit the next wave of CnCNet players? Will some old legends or familiar faces return?

All these questions remain to be answered... Who knows what the future holds. Sadly, however, at this point, the future does not look very bright for the greatest clan of the 2010s era of CnCNet.

The first official clan Tournament in years! REPORT

N8Diaz hosted the first official clan tournament in years on Saturday 6th March 2021 and I have to say the best clan won!

The format was 2v2 round robin, with 2 separate groups and 4 teams advancing to the semi finals. 4 maps were gambled at random: P4, Crush Basement, TDawg, Answer the Door.

Myself and ORA-Medic (aka bart) represented ORA clan as we decided to give the other teams a chance as we would have won too easily had we fielded our top guns such as Eve and Jacob.

In the group stages we had a convincing win against BAT B team. We only lost 1 game in which Hank subbed in for medic for ORA for 1 game, on p4 against Rushy and Kipp who were very very lucky. NastyClan A shit themselves at the prospect of having to face us and bottled out of it, forfeiting the match. ORA A and A clan A henceforth progressed to the semi finals from our group.

In group B there was drama. BAT clan A absolutely steamrolled the group winning all 4 games. There was a 3way tie for 2nd place between TA, 1 and WP A teams. As per the rules, 1 clan were eliminated by the cncnet !Gamble feature. TA team consisting of Jayman and Lordy beat WP Entidad and Anderson in the playoff game and took up the 4th semi final spot.

Our semi final vs BAT A was a match for the ages. With 3 extremely close and good games. Bart played his best ever game in the decider on T-Dawg and we took the series 2-1. You can watch a replay of this match here https://www.twitch.tv/batndiaz/v/939742259?sr=a&t=1s

Now this is when the shenanigans began. Cheating happened in the 2nd semi final as Jayman was booted out of TA by Lordy and Kickn from TB played under Jayman's name. As a result, Lordy and Jayman's semi final 2-1 victory over A clan was compromised. Lordy attempted to desperately swim against the tide and clutch at straws by saying they now played as DG clan but this was clearly against the rules. TA had qualified for the semi finals, not DG. Diaz as tournament host was not fooled by Lordy's antics and so his team were disqualified from the tournament after they were unable to field a 2nd TA player in the allocated time frame. As a result, ORA team were declared champions.

It was a real shame for myself and Bart (aka Medic) as we were extremely confident we would have smashed TA 3-0 in the final as we were playing on top of our game. No one wants to seal victory like this, but rules are rules and our final opponents had tried to bring shame on the event by cheating and swindling their way to the final. Regardless, let this take nothing away from our famous victory and we clearly showed that ORA is the most dominant clan in Red Alert just as it has been for the past 22 years. Bart will now have his name enshrined in the ORA trophy cabinet for decades to come after this victory, alongside other such legends as Milo234 and Galgu.

ORA-Boy (clan leader) will be so proud of our victory - even though it was expected. On a personal level I am delighted to have justified the huge trade deal ORA made with TA for me 5 years ago. ORA had a lot of faith in me when they traded Ford, McLovin and 3 future draft picks to TA for me and I am proud to have repaid them with this victory.

At the end of the day, despite many hiccups, the tournament got what it deserved and the best clan won. There can be absolutely no doubting who are the official best clan on Red Alert now as we proved it in the battle arena. Thanks to Diaz for organising this event.

Friday 5th March 2v2 Tournament

Congratulations to Kipp and Kobra for winning the latest 2v2 tournament. Another victory for [A] clan!

The maps played were 4c Niklas, P4 Mini and Answer The Door.

This event was originally scheduled as a 3v3 but due to several players having to leave during the event or at short notice it was recomissioned as a 2v2 event.

After some hiccups along the way, the tournament concluded with an enthralling final in which the team of Hezb and Leigh finished as gallant runners up in a 2-1 match against the champions.

Thanks to all who participated!

New announcement from "Red Alert 1 OG - cncnet.org"

Hello CnCNet,

"BATNateDiaz" posted the following announcement:

This tournament was kindly arranged by ORA clan with a healthy turn out for a Tuesday night with 14 players creating 7 teams.

I arrived just in time to catch and stream the finals, with some interesting close games from top players.

In the losers bracket final we had Lordy and Ad vs Kobra and Eve with each team displaying different tactics. Eve chose to send an MCV early near the enemy base to create an outpost, whereas Lordy concentrated on building as many CY's as possible to maximise his production speed. I thought perhaps the extra production speed of Lordy's many CY's would allow him to steamroll past Eve's outpost with Ad's tanking support, however, Kobra and Eve both sent a large continuous stream of tanks to reinforce the outpost, gaining south advantage, and ultimately winning the game.

In the Final Final, Kobra and Eve needed to beat Kickn and Yuzgen twice to win the tournament as they came from the losers bracket. And the final went the distance, with games going back and forth until the deciding match with some great play. In the decider, Yuz sent an early tank rush which nearly caught Kobra's team out as Eve was building a CY, but Kobra managed to block both entrances to their base with some slick tank driving. Yuz's tanks met a swift death and Kobra sent his counter attack, buying time for Eve to build up. The counter was dealt with quickly by Kickn's team, however, followed by Kickn quickly building out towards the enemy base and gaining south advantage with Yuzgen not far behind. Then, Yuz and Kickn marched forwards with a deadly combination of flame towers and tesla coils which were too much for their opponents to handle.

Yuz and Kickn were crowned champions, congratuations! (Yuz celebrated his team's victory with a march of mammoth tanks XD).
